Choosing the Location for your Hives
The location of your hives is one of the most important decisions you can make before your bees arrive. We suggest that you find a location where:
The hive entrances face South or South-East
The hives are protected from the North
The hives will be in sunlight in the morning, and shaded in the afternoon during the summer.
The bees have at least 10 feet to gain altitude in front of the hive without walkways and fence lines.
A good year-round water source is available
The ground is level (we tilt our hives very slightly front to back so that the front is a tiny bit lower)
